A SIMPLE DESCRIPTION OF THE Jp = l + K * & r - SYSTEM IN THE REACTIONS

A model in which &I and Q2 resonance contributions add,coherently to a gaussian background is shown to reproduce the mass dependence of It+the JP = l+K*n and pK partial waves in K*p -. K TT TT p at 13 GeV/c. Through a fit to the data, the mass and total width for Q1 are found to be m= 1289k 3 rt (25) MeV, F = 150 f. 9(*70) MeV and for Q,, m = 1404 f 3(*10) MeV, I’ = 142 * 4(rt15) MeV, where estimated systematic errors are given in parentheses.
